Canola oh Canola

Canola oh canola - The first time I encounter this thingy - they were called rape seed? In UK - with Intan, Baya, Yatie and a few more [whom I don't remember their names but can still see their faces]. It has a nice smell to it too. Now 10 years on?? this thing is grown just down the road. Only this year though I see them in Perth. Apparently some farmers got some grants from the gov. to grow this GE thingy..

This is what we had to do to get into the field. As you can imagine - the cameraman [mum] also had to do this... So can you imagine how ugly it should look with big elephant trying to climb the barb wire thingy????

Pacific Blue

This tree is called Pacific Blue (I think). This particular one at Woolies parking lot is Hisham's fav. It looked like a huge 'bonsai'.

This is our pacific blue.. I hope one day it will be like the one at Woolies parking lot.

Sausage Rolls

I normally use sausage mince - add whatever flavor (curry powder for eg), onion (diced finely), some parsley (because I have them coming out my ears!)
Cut puff pastry into half (don't even try to make them- I tell ya!) - I normally use whatever that is halal from the supermarket.



Fold the pastry and turn over. Five a bit of 'stabbing' on the roll, so that the steam can escape from the roll. Orion said "It's raining!" ada ka???

Pop in the oven - 180-200?? depending on your oven. This is the end product! My camera's shutter is stuffed!

Oatland Trip

Oatland is small township on the midlands highway. I always fascinated by their windmill which can be seen from the highway. This is a close up of windmill for the first time for me.

We even went inside and kids climb up to the top of the mill!

Once a year they have Oatland Fair. There's period clothing parade which we missed out! So I was glad to see this lady in her costume. Next year must get there early. Apparently the fair was finished by the time we arrived!

This is a typical 'convict sandstones'. You can see each rock/stone has different chisel marks. Quite incredible really.

This windmill is on the national trust list and they have some grant [over a million] to restore the mill. Hopefully they will put the 'sail' soon..

This is "our" windmill! what a contrast. I think our neighbour kenny has lost interest in his mill.. One of the sail was broken ages ago.. and he didn't even bother to repair it... I wonder what happen to him?

Exciting Day

Can't wait for my first quilting class! Been wanting to do quilting since forever... We've arranged that every wednesday, we'll have dinner at the hospital.. so we still have dinner together. Kids love dining at the hospital cafetaria anyway.. so everybody is happy!

In my handbag...

What do I have in my handbag at the moment... (they said mother's handbag is one helluva scarry thing to look into.. we'll see}

1. My red purse which is fat with cards [woolies reward card, fly buys (coles reward card), ezybanking key card, commonwealth bank key card, commonwealth visa card, mcmilian visa card, source mastercard, medicare card, malaysian drivers licence, australian drivers licence, enrich malaysia airlines card, kathmandu summit club card, online access card,crossroads member card, tafe library card, kate morgan weight loss program card, retail club card, CPR card, state library card, few name cards, old negatives of passport photo??, couple of old receipts [have to keep for warranty of some electrical goods!- aiyyo].. and $3 in coin section! [yes I am running out of cash!]

I must add here - most of the cards mentioned are one-of usage! why the heck I am hanging on to them!

Patchwork - pulakkkkkkkkkkkkk!

Remember the knitting fever recently? I still haven't finished that small cushion cover! Not that I want to give it a miss totally... one day.....(and Ita --- eerrr Yes - that shawl too...)

Another craft to explore... patchwork and quilting.. classes every wednesday night for 5 weeks [I can handle that can't I?]. Just have to arrange that every wednesday night, Hisham cooks. This time I am not too ambitious, just a bed runner. I am sure I will enjoy it... musti musti musti!

Mummy, Aladdin killed spiderman again!

Daddy just introduced few simple computer games to Aladdin and Orion (after such a long 'resistence' from mummy). There's one game about spiderman. The idea is spiderman should kill the villains.. but so far 'asyik asyik spiderman yang kojol!' hence "Aladdin killed spiderman again! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA" --- from Orion!

Today, the front desk lady came in into our office with a bunch of beautiful carnations and said "I want to know... why you get the flowers" to my workmate, C.

When he checked the card, it was from the wife.. he looked puzzled.

"Is it your anniversary"?

"Is it your birthday"?

"Is it her birthday and she is trying to remind you?"

"maybe she is softening you up because she just bought something really really expensive?"

He phoned the wife later on.... guess why????

How to get serve in a busy supermarket

Imagine going to a big supermarket with 3 boys.. and not many counter is ON, and you need to quickly get out of the place.. (these tiny bladders always busting at the most 'inappropriate' times shall we say? -it's OK with Rohan since he is still in nappy but the other two???).. so let them especially the middle one take something he wants that you definitely don't want to pay (normally stupid toys or stupid lollies). Then take it OFF them... then UWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA UWAAAAAAAAAAAA UWAAAAAAAAAAAAA the surround sound effects will be enough to get somebody in the supermarket uniform to quickly open up a counter JUST for you!

Small one or Big one

Orion said "We can buy a small one or a big one" - pointed to the pictures in one of the many brochures I have on scooters. (They were all actually the same scooter only different size pictures)

Everytime I go out 'looking' for scooters, I have my two boys with me, and a lot of the time I will put them on the scooter at the pillion passenger area, just to see whether they can reach the foot rests. So I guess the boys are as excited as me about the prospect of having a scooter.

So many to choose from, this is only Launceston [a smallish city with population less than 200,000?] - Imagine if I am buying in Melbourne! - kantoi!
My restriction - $$$$$ [always money is no. 1 objection] but Aminah and I had a private little joke... we always said "money no object" - joke aside, my limit is $4000

I must admit some 150 cc look soooooooo yummy with their big wheels. But NO - 125 (tight tight wart)

Yes, eat, drink, sleep scooters now - aiyyo so many choice... maybe I go for the cheapest! {remember - tight wart!} - hahaha.. so I have visited 3 scooter shop and test-rode one - KYMCO Agility 125.

Seen: Zoot (will test ride tomorrow hopefully)
SYM - Orbit, VS125, Daelim NS125 and one other 125 Daelim - unfortunately this shop doesn't do test drive...

Cheapest so far Zoot [$2500 including carry box] - top speed only 80 kms/hr [which suits me just fine.

Scooter window shopping and test riding

Time for test riding scooters! I have tested KYMCO- Agility 125 - quite high [probably I am short..]- Nice color [yeah very important], the bill come to $3600 [with the carry box], I definitely need a proper jacket this time [my hi-vis jacket smelled like 'curry'!]. A viser also can be handy in winter months - so it will be over $4000! Well over my budget!

Yesterday I saw Zoot Scooter [sounds like zit scooter? euwwww] - also 125 cc - slightly smaller built - with the box it is $2500 ((It's getting warrrrmerrrr!)). Arranged for the test-ride this saturday... we'll see.

I feel like I'm wasting all these lovely summer spring days if I am not on my scooter!

I actually wanted $1300 for it... no takers but I advertised for $1100, the first caller wanted it for $800 (I'd rather keep it in my museum!) . I really loved this cute postie bike - one of a kind - no other postie bike in Australia [I reckon] that has the paniers n the fairing thigy.. anyway it's GONE baby GONE..
After watching Matt Damon riding the scooter in Borne Ultimatum... I gave Hisham an ultimatum.. scooter or scooter [heheheh just joking]. I need a transport to work, should I get the cute car [like nissan micra and the like] or just go for scooter and only ride in summer? Any sane woman will choose the car.. but this sane woman --- want a scooter... only a wee one! 125 cc is maximum [half price registration - for a tight wart like me].

The first pic is Brian's backyard - our neighbour - one day this is what I would like our backyard to be - neat and productive. At the moment I got weeds coming out my ears! Second picture is my rosemary plant -- smothered by weed! Next are my serai [which is 'hidup segan ...'] normally they will only started to thrive in the middle of summer. Hmm we shall see. Next two pictures are my mints - before and after weeding.. I like weeding around mint - the smell was so fresh! Next to mint is rhubarb, but the leaves are poisonous, it's the stalks [next picture] that people eat.. taste a bit sourish, some clever people made 'champagne' out of rhubarb.. (I was told). Then you have braod bean, this is late broadbean since we weren't here to start it in winter. Next is the artichoke plant, you eat the flower, my kids love them.. (boiled artichokes). Chive and sage, italian parsley (tabouleh anybody?), red silverbeet or chard (quite a nice hardy vegetables), Our garlic crops for this year (noticed the new fence?), grape vine (sticks at the moment), dwarf meyer lemon, squiggly rosemary plant outside my kitchen window (I should put it in the ground, it's looking very sad in the pot). rosemary plant in my herb box [surrounded by lemon balm and oregano].

Hisham and I used to dream about having a 5-acre block [minifarm]... Now, having had only 1/3 acre and finding it's difficult to catch up with the weed etc... I am so glad we don't have the minifarm afterall... (so Intang - be careful what you wish for!)
