I think I spend more time wishing that I could do something with my patchwork/quilting than actually doing it. Workdays - forget it. I will get too tired the next day if I do something related to quilt. [Browsing quilting magazines not included offcourse]. Once you start doing something - ow I will cut strips - then you want to press them the next minute you'd be sewing away and the clock showing it's late.. late..late this will lead to a zombie day the next. If it's swimming day - aargh forget it.... I will be a swimming zombie.
Right now I am thinking when can I quilt the zebra add-on quilt? and how to put together my 'majestic mountain' quilt. I finished the main bit of the top, must choose the sashing n border and to quilt or not to quilt??? [not to quilt means I have to pay Esmee's $$$ to have it quilted professionally]
But I have [alhamdulillah] a LOT of supports. Hisham will drive me to the class if I want to [because I can't cart my sewing machine on my scooter], Sue at work gave me curved pins for christmas, Melanie showed me a trick or two, lent me magazines, videos, books...introduced me to wide wide world or quilting, we went shopping together for fabrics.. and this morning I came in to work and found a pile of quilting magazines from Mary sitting on my chair [Mary is not a quilter but her sister is].. when I say a pile; it's 25 magazines altogether! Holy Cow! YESSSSSSS!

Love your job...
I came to a conclusion recently about my job. I have been telling people that I hate my job. I did, maybe still do.. but I want to make a 180 degree turn regarding this Allah's gift job.
Firstly because I am no physicist, most people are pretty focused when they are in school.. what they want to study what they want to do - I went through university clueless all the way! no joke!
Physics.. aaargh that 'period' again. At school back in 1985/86 in Sc. C, Physics was not a hot subject for most of the class, I should say. I remember having a paper frog races at the back of the lab, and Mr Ooi? the physics teacher didn't mind us doing that at all. "Play if you want to play - but play quietly!" -he probably fed up with us physics haters or just couldn't care less. He even spoke?taught in Chinese because the only keen students were only a few chinese girls. They were always sitting in the front. lazy chinese/malay/indian girls were with me try to win the frog race - aiyyah!
But I managed to pass the subject.. HOW???
Matriculation.., probably the first time I discovered that physics isn't actually that bad.. I but not enough to motivate me to become the next malay einstein.... whatever.
I got the offer to do math in uni - because my math's results were slightly better than my other science subjects.. but for some non-academic/wrong reasons I swapped to physics in my first year at the university. Then to Geophysics in my third year [because I like those geological excursions.. all the wrong reasons again!.. hmmmmmmmm
I still remember my old professor saying to me that geophysics isn't physics at all.. then I did Medical Physics - also for all the wrong reasons.. wrong wrong wrong..
When I worked n had a choice between medical physics or others - I gladly chose others. For the right reason? :-)-moooneh!
..then why am I a "physicist" now?
I shy away when people ask me 'what do you do?'- sometimes it's just easy to say to strangers; I'm a school teacher. full stop. Everybody knows what a school teacher does..
Looking back.. I am pretty damn sure that Allah is the one who chose Medical Physics for me... all for the right reasons [must be]
so that I won't be a hopeless dole bludger in this foreign land...
Thank Allah - now please make me love my job...

Death
My uncle died on the weekend. It was a sad weekend not because of his death, not because now my two cousins are practically orphans, not because I will miss him n her [My aunt died a little more than a year before]. These couple [mak lang and paklang] were probably the closest aunt n uncle to me. I know they love me as if I am their own daughter [at least at some point]. she lavish me with love and material thingies as much as she could afford. She would also scolded me as my mum would..
I truly loved her [and her husband]. I had the bestest time ever with them when I was a child.. yes I miss those time but what makes me really sad - was the fact that it is more I, me, my, myself n my kids attitude these days. I have a lot of nephews and nieces but I wasn't close to any of them like my auntie n uncle were to me...
sad sad sad. bad bad bad

What's on your face?
I gave some blackberries to Rohan from the backyard. He had black/purple mark on his face from eating those berries (soft and sweet and plump after the rain). Aminah came around later and saw him "what's on your face?"
He looked at her and point to his nose: "nose" :-|
I think I will keep him as my bedmate for a little longer

Why is it soooo hard
.. and Angelina Jolie does it so easy. So I lost a wee bit... and now it is stagnant-- I always gone off rail too. I think the hardest thing is will power, will power, will power - aaarrgh I haven't got any!
also remember to drink... 8 glasses a day is not easy. why is it not easy?
Looking forward to non-day light saving times. I normally get a better night sleep with winter clock time. I haven't get the perfect sleep uhh since 2002. Rohan still sleeping with me and he should be on his own bed soon. It's actually me that want to hold on to him for much much longer..

More quilts at Esmee's
I took these pictures a long time ago but don't have time to upload them, so here we go

I like this log cabin

This jungle - fresh green one is Christine's. She made it for her grandson [christmas present]. She is using two panels of the jungle animals. Hisham bought me one panel of zebra, and I have finished the top part of it. Just have to quilt it.. but instead of using wadding and backing to quilt, I am going to use only backing. Ie no wadding material but the backing is from warm fleecy material..
will post the picture soon.
My Pin Cushions
This pin cushion I bought from Spotlight.. $3 or so?... I like it .. but Orion thinks it's his.. toy! I said NO this is Mummy's toy.. Noooooo it has little kids on it .. it must be kid's toy. Sometimes he likes to re-arrange the pins.. for some reason they like to poke the pins into those 'little kids'' eyes
This 'triangle pyramid' pin cushion is from Lilian. The lady at Esmee's that I am doing quilting with. This was her christmas presents for everyone. Used to have a loop at the top.. but Rohan cut it off... "scizzuzzzzz....scizzzuzzzz...."I have another pin cushion which is my fav. and I haven't use it yet. It's from Joan. cute little black dolls.. errr I assumed it's a 'pin cushion'

Fabricaholic...
Been neglecting the family again. Yesterday I spent most afternoon at spotlight choosing lotsof quilting fabrics. They are $2 a meter at the moment. Woweee.. I think now I have enough fabrics to last me for the next 5 years!?? naaahhhh want to go back there today after work! SALE SALE SALE [like music to my ears]
Saturdays will be swimming days for me and the two boys. Rohan still missing out because I can't possible look after 3 boys [all can't swim]. Aladdin is improving and becoming very water confident. Infact over confident that I had to fish him out many times. Orion basically refused to put his face under water but insist to always go to the deep end.? Aiyyo liao! So Rohan definitely has to wait.
p/s: water confident doesn't mean water confident in actual term..
