Quilt at work

YOU WISH!
(more like ... I wish...)

There are a few donated quilts on the wall at work... so everyday I would be reminded of what I could do with my JANOME... if I don't have to turn up at work that is.. in which case I won't have the money to buy 'luxuries' such as quilting materials..

I like the house block... but maybe make it more like my house...
Red and blue flying geese looks effective... I made a quilt for my mum using this block too. I love stars...
Anyway - these arn't mine.. these blocks are on one of the quilts on Holman Clinic's Wall.
I 'nearly' completed 3 quilts very recently...
First one is that expensive "block of the month" (BOM) quilt - no photos yet - I finished the top and it is now at Esme's getting 'edge to edge' quilt... I supposed to get it by the end of January
Second one is 'batman' quilt for Rohan.. [I did the bats ages ago - just finishing the 12 blocks in the last week or so??]
Third.. is the quilt I made for my mum... it is in red, pink and black. 12-inch block and I made 20 of them.. so it's going to be quite a big quilt - not quite queen size but bigger than single.. maybe king double??? What keeps me from finishing the top is the 'sashing' or Esme called it 'tramlines'
I don't have suitable materials for it nor do I know what colour it should be.. hmmmm maybe blue... bright blue
Now I should think of a quilt for my Dad.. I definitely don't think I have enough time to finish these quilts in time for Mariam to take it home.

Trowunna Wild Life Park

Offcourse not only wombats live there....

Catching UP

It's been bzzzzzzz bzzzzzzzzzz bzzzzzzz over the past weeks - this week is pretty quiet. All construction works seemed to stop. They must have a joint 'Christmas+New Year' holiday. Only us 'chickens' at work... :-)

It's time to document what we done and analyze some data.... and update blogs, FB, etc....

I want to share Trowunna Wild Life Park with you guys. In Tasmania there are many private parks.. so many people with passions for wild life and obviously have the fund to do so. I chose this park this time because:

1. We haven't been here before
2. Not far from where we are [still in the North region]
3. Apparently we can cuddle a baby wombat! (actually this was the only reason! hahaha)

We saw lots of wombats on Cradle Mountain -- but they were wild wombats.. These ones are domesticated [not really domesticated] but these baby wombats are orphan wombats from the road kill etc. and have been hand-reared.

Aaaaaaah! ain't it cute??

Battery re-charged??

You think??

17-Dec....2010

Today, Holman Clinic will have it's break up party. Although there's another week before Christmas ... it feels like ... "the end" [I am ready to break and relax, recharge my old battery... etc]... BUT I have to battle ON... today [hopefully] the last day of acceptance testing.

Several colleagues already volunteered to look after the machine [QA task] for tomorrow [yes I have Saturday OFF.... sweeeeeet!] ... although - if we have the machine by 3 pm today - I should still stay back to work on that machine rather than bugger of (most years I managed to duck the break-up party by either working on machine or bugger off earlier.... this year???? Fat Chance!

On a happy note (must have happy note for blog!) --- I finally .... get this ... FINISHED [yey ME!] my errr two-year quilt.. you guys remember that 'expensive' block of the month quilt I was working on before my mum's visit last year? then it got boxed and my sewing machine started to collect dust for another 12 mths [yeah! the whole year!] I was so glad that the battered looking JANOME still works... I just finished the top... so I am sending it to Esme's to get it 'quilted' . This one is a huge one - there's no way I am going to spoilt it by quiting it myself... I already spent more than $350 worth of materials on it and a bucket of sweat and tears and yawn... and sleeps..

Can't wait to show you guys this quilt : My first proper quilt!

Updates

I think I am experiencing symptoms of stress... I haven't been studying [for March exam] since late October. Haven't been doing much at work except stressing about things I have to do (but without actually doing them?!)

Haven't been doing much at home either. Apart from few walks with the family - I normally spent my weekends sleeping. As if my body is shutting down! Should I worry?

March for another exam isn't very realistic for me. I have to worry about the commissioning work etc. I hope the college let me postpone it. Too much happening in March also. Annual QA in Hobart on their superficial machine which I really want to get involve in, There's also software user meeting (which we are 'hosting')? Also I really need a week of 'quality' break in February 2011. This is some sort of 'school holiday with mum' for my kids.

I also been wanting to finish of my quilt that has been sitting there for more than a year now!
slack slack slack.

I have to leave one good note: My house is looking tidy than it has been for years! Thanks to my sister Mariam [she is so sweeet]. I am going to miss her soon. Even Hisham will miss her too!
Poor thing, I haven't been able to take her touristing much. Hopefully Hisham will take her to day trips here and there once the school holiday kicks in [soon], Aminah will be taking her to Cradle Mountain for few days, so that should be good. That's the plan anyway.... we shall see
