I wonder if he'll grow up to be a great 'inventor' or 'designer' or 'maker' ... He is forever busy making 'mess' that's for sure. He is happier at home than at school - why I asked? He said, at home he can do what ever he likes [as in projects]

Yesterday I was greeted with his 'pop-up' card... when you open the folded paper - there was a 'cobra'..popping out slightly. He  said he spent 'ages' perfecting the 'art' but I couldn't find that pop up card to share it with you guys... I was impressed.. coz the card did pop out and it did look like a cobra!

Good boy Rohan (?)

Yesterday, when I got home, Rohan greeted me with "Mum, I was good at school". So I said to him "Good boy, Rohan... but can you be good boy at home too?"
He had to think real hard.............. there was a long pause and he finally said "Yes"

Aiyyo! I wonder what is the definition of a 'good boy' to him?

New Toys

Yawnnnnnnnnnnnn

Been staying up for the last two nights.. First night was to finish binding Aladdin's quilt... but last night..... to play with my new 'toy'. I bought this toy quite some time ago but it hasn't been out of the box... (Have to rob more 'time' of somewhere)
anyway it's a fabric cutter - with this baby I can cut 6-8 layers of fabrics. At the moment I only have one cutting die [that has two shapes - isosceles triangle and 90 degree triangles - let me tell you, even with two shapes the designs are endless!]

I just have to put the fabric between the cutting die and Perspex sandwich, and crank it away! 

In no time at all I got heaps of these two shapes.

I think I want to join the two blocks together - making a diamond block... then put those diamonds together for a border of my next quilt... 

I was so 'taken' by this new toy and this morning before going to work... I was sewing away few more blocks.. aiyyo it is VERY addictive!

Ancient Civilization Quilt

Sue gave me an "Aztec" jelly roll. It is a set of 2.5 inches strips of fabric comprises of many colours.  The piecing method was so fun. One jelly roll gives you about a 'lap size' quilt. So I put a big borders to make it bigger. Small quilts not very useful at my place.

Aladdin is mad about Egyptian (Pharoahs..mummies etc)  So I got him this  fabric for him

Aladdin chose the backing fabric. Hieroglyphs... Hmmmmm it's a normal width quilting fabric so I had to join  it.

Thanks Jane Monk of purrfectly quilted. I am hoping to collaborate more with her in the future. (by collaborate I mean....I pay, she quilts..hahaahaa).

Hobby Shed -part2

The Shed is here... but still more work to be done. Hisham is lining the shed with silver paper and then lining [inside] to be done. I haven't nut it out yet what colour I want to decorate my shed with. For a start, Hisham will put decking oil first...

I am getting increasingly  inpatient with the project... I haven't been able to start or finish any projects lately except that Egyptian quilt [for Aladdin]. I finally did the binding last night...selfishly sewed till the wee hours. I hope I can do something during the long Easter break..also looking forward to Maria Island trip. I hope it will be awesome. We bought a fishing rod yesterday but I haven't a clue how to use it! hahahahaha

My new Chief keeps us all on our toes - which can be good of bad [depending on what tasks]. I hope I can appreciate my job more... although certain individual do make me feel like quitting my job (sometimes).. I guess I just have to have a thicker skin.

Tamar Island Conservation Area..

This Conservation Area is only 10 minutes from Lonnie - but this 10 minutes trip is on the opposite way to home... I don't know why... anyway I spotted this place when I took my quilt to Jane, and I knew of it from Aminah. It's under the management of Parks and wild life.

Yesterday the boyz came to hospital for dinner and I would not tell you what unhealthy things they had here.. hmmmm very naughty and I buckled! This is a spur of a moment thingy "Let's go to the wetlands boys.." - Hisham can't wait to go home and Orion.... (sigh) wanted to go with him... I begged and begged O to come with Mummy - pleassssssseeeeeee baby.....

I am glad he chose us in the end.. (he can't wait to go home to his games - duh!)

The sun was behind the hills when we got there.. so the pictures not so nice??? but you can still see that further on the other side of the river - the sun still shine on the western side of the hills. It was gorgeous (too bad I can't capture the gorgeousness...

This is the entrance of the interpretation centre... business hours is till 5 pm  in summer months and  they shut earlier in winter. I thought well it's open let's just 'venture' in.. there was another car parked at the car park so that was re-assuring.

Interpretation centre - shut of course. I think we get there at 7 pm [sun sets  about 8 pm] so we have about 1 hour of adventure..

Path to bird hide... Yes this place is like birds heaven.. We saw many types of birds which I don't have time to look them up... there's posters in the bird hide of birds you can spot there...

There were a lot of little fishes.. can barely see them because the low lights and they were pretty fast. We didn't see any green and gold frogs.. they must be there somewhere.

Still haven't got the hang of the automatic camera- it's actually darker than this but the camera compensate the low light...

First bridge and it's time to turn back...

Black Swan is common in Australia... when it came close to us, it made a sound.. (maybe it felt threatened?)

The sun is actually had gone (beyond the hill) but the light in the water is the the reflected sunlight from  that white bit of clouds... The atmosphere was 'magic' (to me anyway - you know I am easily bemused right) but the picture can only capture this.. sorry

Watching the remnants of the sun set.. which was the changing colours of the clouds.. pretty cool actually.

One of the bad thing coming here at sunset.. you would still be here after sunset and there were millions of mosquito-like creatures... I don't know what they are - all of us didn't get bitten but they swarmed around us... 

Time to go home....

I thought we did well - walking amongst nature and all that.... and I thought we were at the edge of Tamar Island.... turned out, we only just got to the first bridge... maybe a quarter of the track! must venture further next time... 

Destination: Deloraine, Tasmania

A is Perth, B is Deloraine. Less than 50 kms apart (30 minutes drive)

What can I say about this little country town sort of middle of Tassie North? Pretty, (especially in autumn when those poplar soldiers turning to yellow-orange). Famous for arts and crafts? They hold annual Tasmanian Craft Fair that runs around Oct-Nov. Huge craft/art gatherings. Good place for picnic. Nice river (Meander River) through the town... Every time I went there - I thought - hmmmm "why not we do this more often" - but never did.

This is 'eggplant bruschetta' - wow! bigger portion than what I  thought and a bit too much oil on the bread.

Plan for next week : Sheffield... another country town of Tasmania, a bit further than Deloraine... and I hope my feet can take Mt Rowland! - muahahahahahhaha
