Mengkuang Dam
This is Mengkuang Dam. Not very far from where I used to live [well driving maybe less than 10 minutes but to walk.... very far....]. I was surprised to see that this has becoming a popular spots for the locals. If you come here in the morning or in the afternoon (when the sun isn't too hot) the place is 'crowded' like fish markets! seriously, happy that more people in Malaysia are getting active.

Bloated in Malaysia?
Most people have heard of this line : We are what we eat
to certain extend it is true, offcourse ultimately it is with Allah but we can control some of it.
But have anybody do a research on 'climate-inducing' health problems? or diseases...
Whilct I was in Malaysia I felt incredibly swollen. My face and my feet. Water retention that I felt when I was pregnant there. It is age-related (true), weight-related (oh so true) and climatic effects nontheless because when I got back here.... like magic! No more swollen feet.
My mum felt as if her face has shrunk in Tassie. Too dry.
The question is how could we better prepare on this climatic changes. The two weeks I spent in Malaysia recently just make we wanting to go there again.. only longer and with Hisham and kids.

So... how was the boys?? after...
18 days being apart from mummy?
Only Rohan and Orion greeted us at the airport, Aladdin was at school.
I thought they will come and give mummy big hugs and kisses - NOPE... they looked a bit 'shy'.. a it 'unsure'??
They probably felt betrayed and left out!.. my poor babies...
Whatever it was - Thank Allah they are back to their normal selves now

After berbisik...

After 'berbisik' exercise, we had an awesome 'brunch' at the stall nearby. Gulai semilang (sp.?)
Pasar Bisik
I read about these Pasar Bisik (whispers markets?) on the net and few people mentioned it to me. I thought I must go there to experience it all. Luckily my old friend Rozana is an expert in 'bisik bisik'
She took me to Kota Kuala Muda - On the Kedah side (Kuala Muda is on Penang's side) both side has the 'bisik' markets.
The idea was, when the catch came onshore - whoever wants it - has to whisper the price to the vendors. Those with the highest price will get the catch. Is it cheaper than the normal fish market? Yes and No. Sometimes cheaper sometimes more expensive - depends on the group that doing the 'bisik'I think the fishermen there love Rozana because she always bisik high prices. Maybe it is her way to support the local fishermen?
But you can be sure that the catch are always fresh!
The boats are generally small-ish only small fish available.
Rozana in action : This is no game for small/weak hearted like yours truly! I would just ask and buy!We had a feast of fresh prawns and crabs that day.. I can still taste the prawns and crabs... yummo!
This one looked a bit like my Dad's boat - maybe one day we'll do the opposite --- for a change!

About a Boat
This is my Dad's latest project. Fishing boat and/or Tourist boat. We had the opportunity to hop on the maiden voyage - ala 10 or 15 minutes, just a fun ride around Tanjong Tokong area.

More pictures on the beach area.. It is truely lovely space. People are building left right and center. Them squatters! I might join the race --- build a house (dream house) timber house on stilts.... let's squat!
I don't know the history of the area. It is a reclaimed land, belonged to UDA? What if tsunami come again?

Passport Drama
If you think as a 'seasoned' traveller.... I should be wise... very WRONG.. sadly I fell under 'stupid traveller' category.
The previous trip with the whole family - I somehow managed to miss the connecting flight because I went 'out' of the terminals. So we have to check in again, and consequently missed the flight to Penang. Luckily that wasn't the last flight of the day, we managed to catch the last flight to Penang.
This time... I managed to end up in KL Central (from LCCT) instead of KLIA.
I nearly missed my flight. Phewwwwww
I had one big bag (on wheels) - One big package [that walker!] one knapsack and one handbag..
Running around KLCentral like headless chook! with stinking body in stinking heat - aiyyo!
Luckily the ELR [that fast train] exist.. else... have to buy another ticket to Penang.
Then passport issue! How many times I had re-new my passports in the past???? You would think it would be a breeze affair for me??? Wrong again. I left my Malaysian ID card in Australia. No ID card - can't re-new passport!
I can.. go through the hassle of police reports.. re-issue the id or birth certificate and pay the fine... but I thought it would be easier for Hisham to post the ID to me.. so I waited and waited...
Hisham posted the ID (in panic offcourse) using international express post. Does it mean it get to me in an 'express' manner? NO
I got it a week after as if sending the damned thing using normal post.
The difference is AUD$37 or so!
Without any worry I went to the Immigration Dept. (luckily the one in Kulim wasn't busy). I showed my ID... then... like a bullets to my ear! "Kak tak laku dah yang ni.. MyCard ada tak?"
Now.. if I have MyCard would I be having the old id still??

For a short time I thought I had gone crazy... Can you repeat it slowly I requested panicly.. [I felt seriously LOST!]... But the staffs at the immigration were so patient with me and very professional [one thing I found out on my last visit - I noticed the customer-friendliness attitude are wide spread every where.. (fellow malaysians - please pat our backs! We've came a LONGGGGGGGGGGG way) - I am proud to be a Malaysian (all over again)

Back to the passport pangs, I needed to go to Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara (JPN), get my temporary ID plus two supporting documents. Off to JPN, q-ed, took picture and got the temporary one, raced back to Immigration, with driving lisence and birth certificate I was able to collect my spanking brand-new passport at about 15:30 on the same day!
'Mycard' is going to be ready in 3 weeks time so I hope there's no drama for whoever that is going to collect it for me.
Passports are cheaper nowadays : This is a seriously incorrect rumours!
It should say : Can get 2 year passport for RM100 nowadays
---- Which is in actual fact - more or less the same with the normal passport (RM300 for 5 years)

then... there will be less reasons to take up Australian Citizen.

Few things to catch up at work but nothing major. The major thing was to put in application for accreditation. Arrrgh - that is one major negative energy.. I need a lot of counseling sessions!!
Flying experience was a pleasant one coming back to Tassie. I had my mother with me and although LCCT was still a bit chaotic.. but the flight was surprisingly pleasant. I will definitely fly again with Air Asia... and the trick is getting the cheap tickets... then.. it will be worth it.

Welcome back everybody. I had a nice time in Penang. Spent some quality times with family and friends. The first week was wasted in nursing my travel issues. (Haahahaha). I got very sick when we reached KL. The flying in was a total nightmare in KL. LCCT airport was chaotic (to me) - no clear signage with respect to transit to KLIA. I nearly missed my connecting flight to Penang.
Back in Penang my feet were swollen (the whole time) - Some water-retention issue (weight-related? age-related?). Passport renewal also pretty dramatic. Making me re-evaluate my intention of becoming an Australian Citizen. If only Malaysian Government recognise dual-citizenship....
Second week, I got a car. Thanks to my sister Faizah I was able to 'bercanda' till the wee hours in the mornings. Had quality times with Intan, Sheeba, Suzana, Jijan and Che Naz
