The thing that I dreaded about the procedure was that I knew most of the anaesthetists. They take turn to come to our clinic for our brachy procedures. I was told that human is the worst eye witness. We have a therapists here who is constantly mistaken for another one. One is tall and curly hair the other one - normal height but bulky and always wear a crew-cut.. Same with me I guess. There's two Varian engineers that I constantly mistaken one for another - They are both petite - one is American and one is local boy from down south.. They don't even look alike except they are both --petite.
So I thought they won't recognise me - since I would be in hospital gown and no khammarah in the operating theatre - I could be any other Asians.... WRONG..
Because I had a bad cough and shortness of breath, the theater nurse was a bit concern if the sedation will have a bad reaction on me, so I had to wait outside the theater [with my full attire] so that the anaesthetist can evaluate me. He was very professional, he didn't sound like as if he knew me " Hi how are you?" BUT from his eye I knew... I just knew...
The procedure went so quickly - All he did was put the cannula and said let's put you to sleep.. and I did. When I woke up everybody was gone [the surgeons, her assistants, the anaesthetist] only one nurse was with me. I just felt like I need to go to the toilet, that pain you have just before no. 2.
But of course there was nothing there - since before the procedure you had to go through enema [twice!] a bit sore down there. Other than that I felt fine. I even felt like I can drive home and they are making a fuss for nothing.
Of course I didn't drive home myself, but as soon as I got home I just crashed. Only woke up for food and toilet and 'salat'.
The next day I was still off work, not because of the procedure, but my coughing. I feel very tired and still functioning maybe 60% of my lungs? I wonder what is going on down there.. so I went and saw my GP for another day of medical certificate, turn out she also having the same procedure next week!
So my friends - it is quite common, I have been telling everybody about I had to do this thing and I am feeling a bit reluctant, almost every body whom I spoke to already had the procedure or about to have one. The put bands on my haemorrhoids (3 of them) - so it a week's time they should be "gone" and two weeks time I will get the biopsy report. Aging is getting more and more interesting ain't it?
What's next?
