Easter Destination

I know I said no holidays until Malaysia Trip's saving is settled .. BUT I had to go somewhere for the Easter school holiday. Aminah can get cheap accommodation at National Parks since she is a Ranjer. Then I thought why not visit our friend in the bush somewhere near St. Helen [so free accommodation] but then I haven't been to Freycinet you see... so.. cheapy holiday isn't so cheap anymore. We might have to rely heavily on the credit card in Malaysia [I can hear Hisham's screaming now] hahahahahahaha

So A is where we live and B is where sister Saliha lives. She lives in the bush and almost in a self-sustainable kind of living. I can't wait to see her place. She has no electricity and have an interesting life stories. Will share her stories later.
C is the Freycinet Peninsula

A close up satellite picture : Can't wait to swim in that Wineglass Bay [NOT!] hahahaha... Tasmanian Beaches are nice but mostly unswimable... [to most] - too cold!! [not mentioning s.h.a.r.k.s]
There's also a bay by the name of Great Oyster Bay [must pack some lemons - hehehe] North to wineglass Bay - that whitish mountain range is called The Hazards. Famous for it's changing of colour as the sun rise or set [depending where you are].

If you google images for "The Hazards, Tasmania" "Wineglass Bay, Tasmania" or "Coles Bay, Tasmania" - you'll see some pretty pictures..... (but I am not convinced) - Normally the marketing people here really exaggerate "Tasmanian" labels.

-maybe it is just 'pretty' from a helicopter kind of view?-

Best Dessert Cake Recipe

Margie at work was raving about this recipe - key word = EASY
Was given to her by a Melbourne Restaurateur. According to MArgie - it is good as a cake and also good as warm desert. I haven't try it yet..

Ingredients:
1 pkt Butter Cake Mix
1 pkt instant pudding mix [I tell ya I already like the recipe]
1 pkt of choc chips
3 eggs
1 cup of water
1/2 cup of oil (sunflower,canola,olive - take a pick)

• Mix all ingredients in large bowl till smooth



• Pour and smooth into non-stick ring ting [that cake tin with a hole in the middle] -Margie said she lines tin with baking paper on bottom



• Pop in oven @150 degree - 45-50 mins



• Stand in tin on bench to cool [15 mins]



• Loosen edge.... turn upside down on plate

ENJOY...

my colleague asked me how I feel... I told him I feel the same way as the soldier who going for a battle tomorrow knowing that they going to be be 'butchered'

I feel very very stupid :-(

whatever it be [fail or pass] I am still looking forward to the "aftermath" first .. I want to clean up the messy situation with the washings.... (not much to look forward to I heard)
then......... I am going to SEW to my hearts content........ or youtube/google on quilting [theoretical quilting]

Hmmm - basically eat, quilt,sleep,quilt,drink,quilt

Aladdin's first race

...and he got no. 1 [from behind]

WARNING! This a one kiasu mum's story.

Yesterday, I "wasted" my studying day by going to see my son compete in his school swimming carnival...

wasted??? naaaahhhhh - what would be more enjoyable thing to do?

1- study? and still fail... or

2- see my son in his first ever race in swimming event.

There were two groups, fast swimmers and slow swimmers... he was in the slower team - yet still the last one to touch the end... for ALL three events [free style, back stroke and relay].

I was nearly in tears on his first race.. I thought poor kid he must be embarrassed to finish last... I just couldn't imagine the damage he's going to have due to this ehm "failure"

BUT nope! he was smiling and happy - that he got some ribbons [participation ribbons maybe]

I think I am more stressed than him with the fact that he came last..... is this 'kiasu'

There are many things I wanted to say to him:

- Where's your goggle? why don't you put them on? why don't you put your head under water? why this n that --- but naaah.... I realised [not instantly though] that they just had some fun.... first or last.... so I bite my tongue for now!

yeah I know I know I should be ashamed of myself....

To finish first : takes effort and stamina and discipline [maybe?]

but to finish last takes all the bravery in the whole world.. [ain't that right Dr. Intan]

The sky is on fire

Awesome sunset I saw over King's Meadow on my way home last week.

Around the backyard...

The long summer that I enjoyed so much this year may allow us to taste our sultana grapes when they are fully ripen and sweet... Normally before they change colour completely, the frost came in and rendered the lot useless.
The chives are looking good [haven't use them yet] - I'm thinking 'cucur udang' [prawn+chive+bean sprout in a batter of flour]- I have used the daun kesom ['laksa' mint]

Cos lettuce had to be protected from birds

Starting to enjoy home grown tomatoes now

Lemon grass looking good but I still buy them

This year's highlight! turmeric plant! - this is the most grown turmeric I ever had!... normally before the first leaf opened, frost will kill it.

I also put a piece of ginger in the ground, but the ginger didn't come out... I can't wait to use these leaves in my culinary experiments.
This is Hisham's capsicum which I accidentally put kerosene in! I thought it was rain water sitting beside this plant, oh nevermind, we did taste the capsicum when it's still green.. and NO I did not taste the 'kero'.

Suicidal Sunflowers

Do you remember these sunflowers picture I took last year?

Not long after that "Lifeline" put this sign up around those sunflowers..

The farmer even put perpetual iron sun flowers close to the lifeline sign...

Today I forgot my burqini. I can almost hear my husband saying "If you had a brain, you'll be dangerous" :-)

I thought I am not going to miss swim again today, so I swam in my t-shirt. I normally wear a tiny t-shirt under my work top. It so happened today I am wearing a 'warmish' top, so I will survive autumn weather without my under-t-shirt.

That pool is good that way... you basically can wear anything to swim there! "We have many shapes and sizes imaginable" [says one lady]

That is so true.

About 50% of women I saw are morbidly obese --- including yours truly... BUT
the fats or adipose tissues doesn't congregate at the same body parts for everybody... hmmmm interesting...

like me - my tummy - aiyyo like prego
some women - it goes to the back part of their backside
some goes to arms [me too] and legs
the list goes on and on - just use your imaginations - muahaha

No more adventures

Since 'balik kampung' trip is on the agenda, I cut down local trips to zero... For the last school holiday, the only expenditure was their swimming lessons. Never I thought that it's been noticed... by Aladdin [who else?]

"I never go to places of adventure anymore... only Just Swim .. and Just Swim" [the pool where we go for swimming is called Just Swim]

Oh dear... ungrateful kelp! [said moi] --- you never count the great things you have Aladdin....

He quickly apologized.. (maybe he remembered the previous whining session he did and that didn't go well with me)..

Poor kids... maybe I will take them somewhere 'adventurous' for Easter Holiday... [adventurous but still inexpensive]

-In the mean time I am painting a very nice pictures on what we going to do in Malaysia, which I am afraid we don't get to do it-

"Caving in Mole Creek" sounds like an adventure --- We went there when my sister was here but the Cave was closed due to short of staffs. They said we could get 20% off the next time we go there... that was almost two years ago?? I wonder if they remembered their promise...
