Must avoid LOOKING at pretty things at quilt shop

Just came back from Esme's. There were so many pretty things there... I wish I have more time making my crafts.... TIME... what is that?

I have basted two small table runners and I hope I can do something about quilting them this weekend... this oh-so-busy weekend... I am renting a manual car to practise my parking etc. but Avis couldn't guarantee that I will get the manual car... so must wing it.. no point renting an auto car..

Sunday we were invited for a brunch at one of our 'registroys' house.. to celebrate his new baby and his getting old.. [27! - that's spring chicken I said!]

Can't wait to show you guys what I have been doing for the past few weeks... (yes I have been busy :-)

In all honesty

Yes I have WAY too many fabrics... I was trying to clear my sewing table to give some area for studying [when it's going to end????] but every time I looked... aaaahhhh MUST finish this.. oooooohhhhh MUST finish that.... ieeeeekkkkkk MUST get on with this too.. and that too!!

I have so many "work-in-progress" [WIP] it ain't funny anymore dahling! One patchwork that I finished [perhaps 1 year ago??? maybe more] that I wanted to quilt it myself [ie not very big].... I have decided now to get Lilian to quilt it for me.. so I am adding more to it.. put more borders to get a decent-sized quilt.

It also has been freezing! -4 this morning! yikes... I wish I have more quilts for my kids... Cold nights like this  are hard to get good night sleep.. We haven't use our electric heaters yet... I am trying to avoid using them so must make more and more warm quilts.

I hope I can finish one quilt top tonight.. and then I can start thinking about table runners. Time is definitely NOT on my side at the moment.

Guess what I'm doing now???? yes - net shopping again.... also working very hard! Done 3 patients QA.. [before lunch] and now on my forth one... complex plan takes long computing time... so whilst waiting... let's SHOP..

Melancholic on driving test

I try to get 2 lessons a week of driving lessons. But every time I get behind the wheel it's always feel awkward in the beginning. Yes it's getting less and less awkward but I'm still 'stomping' on and off the brake.. I'm still stalling the car here and there. I felt like an idiot and can't help feeling sorry for myself. I am not so confidence that I can pass the test now.. even though I am confidence in driving.
The road testers here are very very picky. It has even been debated on media about this. I bet if everybody has to take the test again, more than half the seasoned drivers will fail. A lot of them wouldn't even pass the multiple questions bit.

I had to do a 10 am lesson today (which is a pain because it's during working hours) - that means, I have to go home super late tonight (but who cares right?). I had to swap my lunch hour spot (yesterday) for this guy who did the test. Did he pass? he failed. Why? he went over speed limit twice.There are so many 50 and 60 zones here, it is easy to fall into the traps.

My parking is terrible.
My clutch and brake works are pathetic.

I've already spent hundreds and hundreds for my lessons... must I now buy my own car just to practise?
WHO CARES?

What 10-minute block

Last night I did a couple of 10-minute block by Susan McNeil, here. Dahling..... it was more like an-hour block for moi!

Not a pretty picture

On the last day of kids's school holiday, we decided to get 'physical'. Went bush walking at noon... My my, you should hear me huffing and puffing all the way up to the top... (I thought I am going to have a heart attack any minute then!.. NOT GOOD).

Kids had never been on this track, so it was nice a 'adventure' for them. At the end of it, everybody had 'coronary' delights in the form of fish and chips (salty chips to boot), salt and pepper squids (please remind me not to order this again) and I had salmon steak (not memorable one)... and to add more salt to grease... a slice of super rich macadamia brownie to share between the boys and I..

In the evening, I tried riding that yellow bike for the first time after the restoration... Shil, my tushies are still sore from the ride!! I think they maybe bruised! ouch!

The Quick and the Dead

This week I am 'the dead' one - LOL!. I have been meaning to take few days OFF for this week - since it's school holiday BUT I also have a couple of driving lessons, so I didn't tell my colleagues my intention ... and guess what???? Cam is taking the whole week OFF instead! cesss!

But then I have a big fat holiday to look forward to in a couple of months. I hope Allah makes this trip ever so smooth.

Irking Funiture

I have so many furniture in the house that irk me.. some of them are the ones that I bought! (how come????)

But mostly what 'he' bought... el-cheapos and el-crappos...

One of them is the bishop's chair [MY FAULT]. One is small rough-look timber table [What was I thinking?!]

BUT the main irking furniture that has to go this weekend is the book shelf in kids room and this big 'cabinet'?? that is truly eye-head-heart SORE!

P.S. My sewing table [and everything on it] also an eye sore but I can to put up with it! ;-)

Mama! let's make more clutter

cutting accurately every time ?

The nice part about quilting for me is sewing - put those pieces together.. BUT before we can start putting it together - the part that is not so excited is cutting the fabric. I can put up with this part really until it comes to 'curve' cut... like cutting the circles... with this gadget... I think it will improve the time taken on cutting activities.. Heck - I can even train my kids to do the cutting bit for me!

Who's the gadget queen now? hehehehe [nope I haven't got the gadget... not yet anyway]

p.s. The title to this entry should have been "Mama! I want that gadget NOW!"

Yes I sewed something last night!

After cleaning the dust on the machine.... and clear some clutters on my sewing table... I managed to fix the pants that Leyza gave me [it was bought too big] and a shirt... torn some months ago.. and I bet Orion can't fit into it anymore.. then I did a  few tiny blocks of hugs and kisses quilt by Jenny Doan.. like here

Hisham will have kids full time for two weeks. Lucky thing! [wink wink]. It's blowing like crazy since yesterday and it's quite cool outside so the kids just stay indoor... I can tell you it's not good for them and parents...

They are like little mouse making mess everywhere... [crafts dahling]
