When I think of far away land - I think about my dear friend Olga. She is in the middle of Russia and thanks to google I can see the streets she would have walked on...

I hope one day I can go and visit her and her mum n dad .... Don't know how yet.......

(maybe one day I can attend a conference in Moscow or better still in Murom)

Hisham came home from parents and teachers meeting last night with pms also... nevermind dahling...

Sue just came back from New Zealand and got me gorgeous gorgeous [too gorgeous] fabrics... some with kiwi motives on them... imagine pa'ua shells, ferns, maori designs on fabrics.. (makes me want to go down to Harvey Norman right now and get a new camera - so you all can see how gorgeous those fabrics are)

EXAM or no EXAM I must sew something this weekend!

Shooting Star

I go home everyday in the dark now. Sunset now is earlier than 5 pm. I normally start at 9 am so I have to go home after 5:30 pm. Normally I will work till later [yes blogging is also work - OK :-.]  Two nights ago I saw a shooting star going across (almost horizontal). It looked so close.. I wish one day a big shooting star landed close to me so I can see that frozen rocks from the space.. My geology professor said - every year Earth get tonnes of rocks from outer space... how come I never got one? :-)

Anger

My dear friends, Have you ever been so angry??? Is it wrong to be so angry?

Right now I feel like going on top of the highest mountain [well Mt Wellington would do] and SCREAM THE HELL OUT of my anger.... I am just exhausted with anger.... does it mean I am not a muslim to have such anger?

Big Trip minus greatness

I was given two impossible dates for my practical exams.

One - the weekend of 25 and 26 August
The other one is 13 and 14 October.

The first one : I would have to take a solo trip to Sydney from Malaysia to do the exam
The latter : I will have to fly right after coming back from 8 weeks of zero preparations.

I am thinking the first choice is much better - so that if I fail or pass - I can still enjoy the rest of my holiday
The second one... I think the pressure will be huge... practical exams isn't something I can take books to study for... besides I don't really want to 'study' on my holiday [it won't be a holiday would it?]. The window for preparing for exams would be from now till 15 August..

If I have it on the 25th August - It would be 'fresher' in my mind than the one in Oct.... Arrrghhhhhh why it has to be so hard!

Other alternative is to change the dates to come back a week earlier - You think that week extra will make a difference?

Hmmm back to first choice!????

I don't want to be doing this on my holiday!

Big Trip

OK.. the whole world knew about my big trip to Malaysia this year (facebook is as good as the whole world) [p.s It is even an agenda for the 'Section Heads' meeting - LOL]

It's on my mind since several months ago - Heck I already got the tickets... months ago.

Hisham is worried that global economy will 'shut' cheapo airlines down - I said : cheapo airlines will flourish due to GFC.

Now, my kids also getting excited about Malaysia. Orion asked me this morning how many days to Malaysia???
He got excited when I said 90... [coz he thought 19!]

I heard they talking more and more about Malaysia [Aladdin and Orion]

Aladdin apparently had some bad memories in Malaysia - he reckons he didn't sleep well - no proper bed - too hot, his ear ached... poor thing. I can't control the weather or cold/flu but I hope I can do something about the bed issue.

But he is looking forward to eat 'pepperoni' pizza and ride on motobike.. I hope this coming holiday it is all pretty pictures for us all [especially for Hisham the Whiner] - I came that close from dropping him from the 'team' it's not funny.

This is Pulau Perhentian on the East Coast of Malaysia.. Penang waters aren't that clear... nonetheless we should be able to have fun fun fun. One of my sisters own a fishing boat now... I am hoping we can at least go fishing with her boat.

May Allah bestow on us an exceptional good health whilst in Malaysia.

When will I get serious about losing weight

Today my neighbour [at the office] came to gloat that he's lost another 0.6 kg last week! Damn damn damn...
so he is 3.3 kgs less weight now.. and he is on a:

Downward trend for the last 5 weeks.. double damn. [Apparently he plots his weight, nerd bugger]

He asked- When am I going to join his diet..

I am scared to put my hand up because every time I said I want to diet or to lose weight - I will go the opposite way:
Cam said he will get out from this clinic - kilo by kilo!
and I???? going to be the most 'montel' at work....

Driving Test

Hello Gorgeous people! Last week I took two extra days off. Still many things to be done especially 'cleaning' or tidying up the house.. one of the things that I wanted to do for ages is to get a local car license. Gosh it is on the back burner since I don't know when.  Now I have a date - 3rd July at 3 pm I will be tested on the road.
Let's hope I pass ... Let 2012 onwards be the year of "pass"

I still don't know how am I going to get a lot of driving practice. Sometimes I feel it will be easier to buy a cheapo car and practise rather than 'borrowing' from you-know-who.

40 ++ years still haven't got my own carrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr  [you all know the song right?]

Another task is to fix my push bike [you know Shil, that yellow bike you helped me bought] - I hope it will be back to it's glory soon.. coz..

[eerrr yeah another song!]

So many things to do and so little day light hours.

Eating Out in Tassie for us

Eating out experience in Tasmania for us isn't something you will envy. First, there are only limited menu for us [vegetarian or seafood choices only] and some of the salads or seafood item has some sort of meat related 'muck' in them. So we have to be very careful and ask a lot of questions. Some waiters/waitresses don't mind the questions but some, visibly irritated by our questions.

Second, I think it's quite expensive. For eg. recently we went out to dinner for Hisham's birthday and I had a 'pumpkin salad' - It has a few rocket leaves, thinly grilled pumpkin and a few pine nuts and baby beetroots [I swear they came out of a can] .... $16.50
Hmmm maybe I am stingy.

Third, not many has ambience dahling!

That is why I can't wait to go back to Malaysia... where you can find many cheap and awesome food... and awesome 'ambience'

Mother's Day once again

I am still without my images. We spent mother's day at Tailrace Convention Centre. Sue and Martin celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. (Martin is my boss). Coincidentally it's also Mother's Day special lunch buffet at that place. I believe everybody had a wonderful time.. [not to mention free entrance into kid's paradise]

What do I get? Hisham got me cyclamen [indoor pot plant]. Orion had a drawing on canvas.. and a card.. that says..something like "My mummy is a very busy lady. She loves me and I love her. She likes to go walking at night. She is old. I am happy to have a mummy"

We had a good laugh when I read the card. He was a bit upset initially thinking that we were all laughing at him.  He also draw a picture of him and I - so did Rohan... I should show you the pictures really - you all will be laughing also!

Sad really - but also funny..

We also went to Officework yesterday after the lunch. Hisham got a monitor [that's his birthday present] and I saw a gorgeous red chair.. so I want it as 'Mother's Day' present... I need a good comfortable chair for my sewing [hopefully I can start sewing soon...]

I am not naming and shaming

(only re-living my unpleasant experience yesterday)

I went to Hobart yesterday for work. We had lunch at "Dumpling World" at the corner of Argyle and Liverpool St. It's bright red in color and has a nice smell when you walk past it.

BUT they are no good for strict or fussy Vegetarians (or Muslims for the same reason)

For non-vegetarian and non-muslims maybe it's nice foods.

I ordered seafood noodles, and it came with 'extras' - turned out to be BBQ pork [I can almost hear some of you scream ewwwwww] but I didn't know OK... so I had a bit of the noodles n the seafood .. until.. (errr does it look like meat to you guys??? I asked my colleagues, they looked at it - and tasted it... and NO it's actually my 'favourite' meat!) I went back to the girl behind the counter... "is seafood comes with meaty bit also?" -  She said it shouldn't be...

So they made it again - what's the chance that they just flicked the meat out and re-heat the damned thing! --- ow well... out it came - the waiter was very apologetic (it look genuine enough) but I am a bit queasy by now and searching for...surprised surprised .... I still can find one meaty bit! NEVERMIND!

Obviously their business is so good for other patrons [..and they don't give a sh** about vegetarian menu] and who cares if it has a bit of cross-contamination here and there... it can be seen as 'bonus' what?

Today I received a notification from the 'college' that I have PASSED!!! (my written exam).

Thanks for all the moral supports n putting up with my crankiness [yes you can guess who]...

I am going to smile at least for the rest of today - before embarking on the next phase - ie... err I'm not going to even mention it for now...

I guess I should take the boys out to dinner tonight :-)

The Gulch, Bicheno

I actually don't want to keep talking about our East Coast holiday but Hisham begged for more... So here it is... After the stint on the Diamond Island, We went to The Gulch, still in Bicheno. The view are magnificent. There is a fish shop here but not many varieties. They also has 40 minutes tour on glass bottom boat. There weren't many visitors and we had the whole boat to ourselves. (some mental notes : must bring fishing lines if coming to this place again!)

Governor Island. The other side of this island is Marine National Park. Good spot for diving  apparently. Those white markers is when you see them lined up - one side is Marine Park and the other side is legal to catch fish.

Jetty to glass bottom boat.

This used to be a popular spot in 'whaling' times. Infact up the hill from here there are a spot  called Whalers Lookout.

This seat is close to public toilet at "The Gulch". The smell was  quite unpleasant around this area, NOT because of the toilet, (toilet was good actually)... it's the smell of 'penguins' (there must be many penguin nests around here)

This fisherman catch the crayfish [lobster] and sell it alive. Big tanks  go on big trucks straight to airport and  off to China (alive) (twice a week or once a week I am not sure). He (fisherman) get $60 a kilo... I hate to think what the Chinese are paying in China for the crayfish.

This is the glass bottom boat we took. We didn't go far - just around the  Gulch. We saw lots of mullets, mackerels, stingrays (many kinds - including the kind that got Steve Irwin) , squids, many other fishes that I forgot their names. 

That's it... at this point.. we are 'sort of' ready to go home... and hope to come back again. Next stop was Lake Leake ... my camera was playing up...

We just stopped at Lake Leake to take a leak [hahhaaha] - It has some eerie feels about it... I supposed it's a great spot for fishing and not much else.
