Sydney Weekend - foodie marathon

Fish market - Food oh glorious food!
The Rock's market (where I bought a kilo of licorice!!-if not more)

That sea creature thingy - yup - the opera house
the big smoke!
That sea creature thingy again creeping out of the water
Sydney Harbour Bridge
Chef at work (goreng cucog - YUMMM)
The yumm koayteow at 'warung wak sam'

Nooraisah and Sydney

My weekend with my old friend, Noor was superb. Friday night I met her, we went to a Malaysian restaurant (Restaurant Abang Sam). We had chicken beriani, char koay teow and sate. For the dessert, 'ais kacang'. Char koey teow was awesome but beriani was so so [sorry Wak Sam].

The next day, Noor cooked me a Malaysian breakfast - cucur udang! YUMMMM. I must say that I was a bit surprised that she is a good cook. Then we went sight seeing - few different angle of Opera House, Sydney Harbour Bridge, The Rock market (I bought $25 worth of licorice! aiyyo!). We had lunch at the fish market. This is an awsome fish market because in Tasmania fish market just doesn't exist. We had a really nice chinese style lunch. YUMMMM
It felt like I was on a food marathon... and please please please dahling don't even think of asking me how my diet doing... wakakakaka kantoi big time! From the tiny bit of Sydney that I have seen and from Noor's stories I think Sydney rocks. (Errr is that why they call it The Rock - that area near the opera house)

Nooraisah reminds me so much of myself in my previous life. I am glad I met her because 1 day spending with her, I know more about her than 5 years living in the same hostel back then in St George's. I hope she won't wait too long to come and spend time with me and the gang in Tassie.

Aminah says : If everybody walks for 0.5 hour EVERY day. The overall patients at the hospital will be reduced in half! (she said she just threw the statistics - but i think there's is some truth in it)

Easy in theory

1. To lose weight is easy, burn more calories than the intake. You can still lose weight by eating a barrel of chips with the grease IF you then burn it all n more
2. You burn the same amount of calories WALKING from point A to B and RUNNING from point A to B. Only that if you walk, you have to do it longer
3. RUNNING is slightly less efficient than WALKING but the difference is negligible
4. To get any benefit to your fitness level, you would have to walk faster [exert yourself] BUT if only to burn calorie [ie lose weight] - you can just walking slowly.

In theory it's all sounds very easy. Today one of the doctors brought a chocolate torte cake. I took one tiny piece - Adam was there and said are you going to write it down for me that cake Faridah! - wakakakaakaka.

A little strory of Adam: He is on eating mode now (Adam) because he lost 9 kg last week. To be exact he lost 9 kilos in 4 days. He was into this weight lifting competition thingy. He had to be under certain weight for the category he contested. So in 4 days he went from 87 to 78. How - he did lotsof cardio - sweat it out! cut down his food intake, reduce food and liquid, second day eat less again, on the third day just fruits and day 4 he had just a cup of tea! [he is crazy]. But he felt fine and qualify his test. well I think he probably lost a good 3 or 4 kilos but the rest is just dehydration (which is not good). But now he is putting the weight back on.. but in muscle mass [that's hard! he said]. But he is very discipline on his diet regime. One hour before his gym session will be eating his protein bar and have his protein shake after the gym. Every day. Last week he didn't even touch any food left in the tea room [tea room in holman clinic can be mean to dieters.. there seemed to be lotsof cakes, chocolates, from patients and super 'rajin' staffs members, he said I can't eat this week but next week I can. true to his word. he took a big piece of cake today!

I wish I am half as motivated as him, then I sure be fine..

monday whining

I wish this 'hisham' fellow will get his own blog, and leave my blog alone.. sorry dahling.. but you are a pest. [a dahling pest :-)]

Well.. my weight is slipping UP [why slipping? - that's because I am slipping into eating frenzy and too cold to swim and too hard to walk modes]

But with Adam as my project manager.. today is a new day. I brought healthy lunch with me, and I will walk at the gym at lunch. New hope.. new strategies

Gym Story

I checked out the gym yesterday after work. I am quite impressed with the facilities. For some reason I always thought it's just a few machines and the smelly carpet. It's quite far from it. There were no carpet. There's some very impressive looking cardio machines. Threadmills, bicycles, cross trainer, rowing machines, lots of weights macines, etc. And there's a big flat screen TV with the sounds system.

The only thing that is not very good is the space. The machines are very close together. I guess no aerobic class in there.

I wonder if my personal trainer is going to be hard on me?? wakakakaka

Starting monday I have to write down what I eat and give it to him! aiyyo!
hisham said: like the DEVIL when I said to him about shaving off my bunyans. (like I am serious?)

So not hot about shoes

I have very wide feet. It is very hard [almost impossible] to find a good looking, comfortable and feminine shoes for me. If you know Launceston... let's make it..IMPOSSIBLE to get good shoes for my wide feet... I dreaded new shoes!. The last couple of shoes I bought, only one pair that I can wear (the ugly one), the other one was slightly ouch in the beginning but now is very ouch even though it is fairly wide shoe.

The best shoe I ever bought was a pair of kickers - and that shoes was stolen outside prayer room in Sentra Mulia Building in Jakarta [yeah... bastardos!]. never seen shoes like that ever again. [not that I am looking very hard]. Funny thing was when I bought it I never heard of kickers (brand oblivion??). You know how kickers has a red n green trademark on their shoes. I did asked the shop assistant for same colours.. - Can I have both in reds? [wakakaaka kantoi!]

last week I went to Faul's [a somewhat 'respectable' shoe shop in tassie]. I saw this one shoe - el naturale [made in spain] - I liked them so much.. they are so... 'me' -- BUT as usual the shoe is not wide enough for my feet. I wonder if it's worth getting rid of my last toes and what's the term of that opposite bunyon area? Excuse me doctor, can you shave off my bunyons! wakakakakaka because I want to wear el naturale!!!

I hope I can buy decent shoes in Sydney (if I go??..supposed to leave next week, haven't got any confirmation on tickets). Anybody know Sydney for shoe shopping?

Warning: Not a quality Reading

Just me having a big whine. My workout/diet regime seemed to be out the door with the frosty morning and winter warming food. Let's face it I lurveeee my food - be it yesterday's cold cold rice.

Swimming is so hard now because it is hard to not go back to bed after fajar (subuh).
Lunch time.. hmmmm there's still hope.. I always took my swimming costume to work but many times - between chicken vindaloo lunch n swim.. aaarrgh - how did you guess?
today - I thought about it- but it rained at luch time [any excuse will do]

sooo not dared to go on the scale.. my muffin top tummy - yes - still a muffin top!

plan B.. hospital gym.. I don't really like to go to gym - infact the word gives me a slight pain in my head [no I am not imagining the pain.. it's real].. BUT what do I got to lose??? it's dirt cheap (only $1 a week!) with $10 joining fee. Mind you I haven't been inside it yet.. $1 a week sounds like a good deal.. besides Adam is the gym rep. and he works with me.

I haven't met anybody that is more motivational than him (in the 'vanity' department). He said.. to lose weight is no brainer... just do heaps of 'cardio' and eat nothing! I don't think I can pull the 'eat nothing' part (don't think I can handle quaker oat for dinner either Intan).. but I'd like to give 'cardio' a go [whoever he is - wakakakaaka]

He is a great guy this Adam. I almost never go to parties by Holman Clinic staffs but I went to his parties [a couple of time - house warming parties]. He made my whole family welcomed.

He said he used to be 'BIG' guy and he did calorie counting. He shrunk down to nothing.. Let's see if I can pull some of his tricks [he agrees to be my personal trainer ---he said ANYTIME].

Slumdog Millionaire

Watched it couple of nights ago. Hisham reckoned it's 10/10. Adam in the clinic said "go and watch it, it's bloody good". I read about how good it is in the newspaper, to me.... It's nice but I don't think it's that brilliant. I mean 8 oscars! So I better watch others...

I definitely seen better hindi movie than that [betul tak shil!]

p/s my kids loved it because .. "the boy jumped into the siiiiiit" [says O]
wakakakakakakakakaka

Sadly the movie we hired had some problem with the 'extras' [maybe our player has some issues with it?] - so cannot do 'Jai Ho' with kids

Have anyone seen The Reader?

Selective Hunger

O: Mum I am hungry
Mum: Eat your dinner
O: I am not hungry of dinner, I am hungry of ice cream
Mum: !!

Mum: Go on.. finish your dinner
O: No I want to be hungry of something else. I hate dinner

Normally O and A have this selective hunger and thirst. Rohan, well... he has limited vocab but if he doesn't I am sure he will be selective too.

Hmmmmm to think that when they were little babies.. they practically ate everything!, hot food, cold food, smelly shoes, dirt... shopping trollies! (YES! you know that foam bit that you supposed to put baby in... yup - Rohan munch a lot of them!]

Diet ku hancus

I haven't been swimming for 2 weeks. BUT still happy overeating.. boohooo to myself. [payah payah!]
Quilt: last night stayed until 11 to try and finish this one quilt. New technique. I made 10 squares quilted and joined them later on. New technique called 'strip join'. But it's hard to keep those lines straight at the joins. I am not fussy about this quilt since it's for the family. It will be warm because I used fleecy material for backing. Lurved those fleecy fabrics. They are great.

Pictures... have to wait... as usual!
